Medomak Arts Project Celebrates Women’s History Month and 100 years of Women’s right to vote
A Celebration of Women's History and a potluck dinner will take place on Thursday, March 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm at 13 Friendship Street at Medomak Arts Project. It is free, so bring your favorite dish to share, bring a friend, your son, your daughter or another relative. Beverages will be available for a modest donation.
Guest speakers Anne B. Gass and Representative Victoria Doudera will talk about the history of women, now celebrating 100 years of voting rights and current issues facing the Maine voter today. They will explain LD433, an Equal Rights Amendment to be voted on and added to Maine's Constitution. LD433 is a “RESOLUTION, Proposing an Amendment to the Constitution of Maine To Explicitly Prohibit Discrimination Based on the Sex of an Individual.” The bill is sponsored in the Maine House by Representative Lois Reckitt.
