Across Generations

We asked if Falmouth High School students would like to participate in our Daffodil Tribute, and we - and the students - ended up with so much more. Holly MacEwan, Falmouth High School Service Learning Coordinator, contacted AP History teacher, Jess White, who immediately incorporated suffrage into her semester's curriculum. White also tasked her students with creating their own suffrage curriculum for grade schoolers, which the older students will teach in the spring. Then Holly brought senior residents from Ocean View to meet with White's students so they could hear first hand what it was like growing up female in the generation just after suffrage passed. Our own Anne Gass introduced the discussion and said, "I was so moved by the scene of all these youngsters really listening to these older women talk about their lives." Oh, and yes, the students planted daffodils too!
